Yeonjun
I barged into the garage where I knew Eric Noshimuri was. I saw five of the men turning to stare at me, a look of confusion on each of their faces. After all, it’s midnight and no one was expecting me to come here, especially someone on their own.
‘Yo kid what the * do you think you’re doing?’ one of them asked. I smirked and shook my head.
‘I’m here for Erick Noshimuri,’ I said confidently. I saw Eric who was by his motorcycle. He stood up straighter as he put his beer can down and crossed his arms across his chest.
‘And who might you be?’ he asked cockily. I took a step closer, enclosing the distance between us. Eric was a pretty tall guy but I wasn’t exactly short either.
‘My name is Choi Yeonjun but that’s not important. What is important is why I am here,’ I said. I could hear the acid and bitterness roll off my tongue.
‘Is that so?’ he asked, almost mockingly. I chuckled and nodded. ‘And why would that be Choi Yeonjun?’ he asked.
‘Does the name Park Minji ring a bell?’ I asked. Instantly, I saw his smirk disappear, a hard look setting on his face. ‘I thought it might,’ I said.
‘Minji and I are over. What the hell do you want?’ he asked. I shook my head and then pulled out my sword. I heard guns being drawn while he recoiled slightly, but I could not care any less right now. He hurt the girl I love.
‘You should not have tried to kill her,’ I said. I did not hesitate as I went to attack him.
‘Whoa!’ he yelled as I heard a gun go off. I sliced at his arm and went to hit him again, when I suddenly felt an immense pain in my leg. I fell to my knee as I cried out in pain. I felt the blood gushing out as my hand went to my thigh, trying to stop the bleeding.
‘You son of a *,’ Eric said as he held to his arm while his goons surrounded me. Eric kicked at my hand, kicking my sword from it. He kneeled down and grabbed my face. ‘I’m going to make you pay,’ he said as he punched me.
I fell down slightly, wobbling on my feet. I felt a kick to my stomach, followed by more. I groaned in pain as I tried to protect my face.
‘You’re a *ing *, coming in here without any plans or backup,’ he said, laughing. Two guys came from behind me as they pulled me to my knees. They held me while Eric grabbed the gun.
‘* you Eric. If you think … this is over… you’re wrong,’ I said as I coughed out some blood on his face. He flinched slightly but then laughed…almost like a maniac.
‘Oh is that so?’ he asked, laughing and shaking his head.
‘My sister will end you!’ I said just as he hit me once more with the gun. I felt blood trickle down my forehead and onto my cheek.
‘We’ll see about that,’ he said as he aimed his gun and then shot. It happened in a blink – I heard the shot and then felt white, blinding pain in my stomach. I fell down to the floor with a thud as my hand tried to press onto the wound on my stomach. ‘Any last words?’ Eric taunted.
I managed to smile through the pain as I looked at him. ‘My si—sister will en—end you,’ I said.
Hoseok
Jimin, Taehyung, Yoongi, Namjoon, Hanuel and myself had managed to finally locate where Yeonjun was. Soobin was right about his suspicions. Yeonjun really did come for Eric but that * kid didn’t even think of a plan.
He was following his heart and not even stopping to think of any of the consequences that might follow. It was almost as if he did not care about what would happen to him. He just wanted to hurt the person who hurt Minji.
The six of us moved cautiously, grateful for the cover provided by the night. We were all wearing black clothes and trying to blend in. Yet, my eyes still fell on Hanuel. The way she just walked was just enough to grab my attention.
The Scarlets could not have chosen a better name for her because she truly was one with the shadows. She reminded me of cats – agile, quiet, possibly deadly. She looked focused but I knew she was worried. In truth, we all were.
‘We’re almost there. We just need to turn and –,’ Yoongi said but stopped as we heard a gunshot go off. I saw Hanuel’s eyes go wide as we all stopped in our tracks.
‘That was a gun shot, possibly a handgun,’ I said as they nodded. I looked over at Namjoon who nodded at me. Before we could do anything else, we heard another shot.
‘Jun… no,’ Hanuel said. I saw her as she took off running while taking out her sword. The rest of us ran right behind her as we all stumbled into the garage.
I saw them – Yeonjun on the ground, bleeding and bruised, Eric holding a gun aimed at him. There were four others, two of them holding Yeonjun.
‘What the hell is going on tonight? Has everyone forgotten their manners!’ Eric yelled as he turned around. I saw Hanuel look at brother and her face instantly changed. It was almost as if I was watching Hanuel transform into Domina Umbra.
‘No—noona,’ I heard Yeonjun call out weakly. I could have sworn I saw her face darken.
‘Oh so you’re the famous sister,’ Eric said as he went to aim his gun at her. ‘I’ll just send you to hell with him,’ he said.
‘You talk too much,’ Hanuel replied. Suddenly, she moved, almost as if she was the wind. She kicked his gun out of his hand and then made a slash at his arm.
The others shouted as they went to raise their guns to protect Eric. My heart skipped a beat, knowing she might be in danger as we did the same, but Hanuel was already all over them. I saw her move quickly as she slit the first guy’s throat and he fell with a thump. I could hear him gurgle and choke on his own blood, the sound almost making me sick.
That made the others freeze a bit and she used the opportunity. I saw her run her sword through one of the men’s chest. He stilled while she took her sword out and pushed him down to the ground. I could hear him wheeze for breath but she just left him, as did we.
‘You *!’ the other two yelled as they went to shoot at her. Yet, once more she moved like a shadow. We were seeing Domina Umbra right now – not Hanuel. We were seeing the skilled assassin – the girl who was trained to kill without mercy. We were seeing the girl Hanuel was trying to bury.
She moved so quickly I could barely keep up. She moved ever so gracefully as she suddenly appeared from behind them. She slit one of their throats, turned and stabbed the other, leaving only Eric alive.
She walked over their bodies while Eric shook in his place. Yoongi and Namjoon both went to help Yeonjun who was still bleeding fast. Jimin took a step forward, coming close to Hanuel while I did the same.
‘Not so cocky now are you?’ Hanuel asked as she gripped her sword tighter.
‘You did a terrible mistake hurting our siblings,’ Jimin said. ‘What did you think huh? That you would try to kill my sister and I would let it go?’ Jimin asked.
‘I… It was never supposed to come to killing her. I only… I only wanted to use her for information. I did not want to kill her but she heard me and I knew she would come to tell you,’ he said and Jimin scoffed.
‘You left for dead and you killed the child in her womb!’ Jimin screamed. Eric’s eyes went wide at the news.
‘Wh—what are you talking about? Wh—what child?’ he stuttered. It seemed as if he really did not know about the baby.
‘She was pregnant, with your child. She survived but the baby didn’t,’ Jimin said.
‘Oh God,’ Eric said as he dropped the gun. ‘Oh God,’ he repeated as he ran his hand through his hair. ‘No, no, this can’t be happening,’ he mumbled to himself.
‘It did happen because of you!’ Hanuel said as she approached him closer. Her voice was as cold as ice. There was a certain hatred and bitterness and coldness emitting from her. She was terrifyingly beautiful. ‘Jimin, do you want to be the one to kill him or shall I end him myself?’ she asked.
I looked over at Jimin who was shaking hard. I knew Jimin. I knew he would not hesitate to kill anyone if it meant defending someone he loved and cared about, but this was different, this was more – vengeful…more terrifying.
‘I um… I,’ Jimin said, sounding unsure. He looked around at us but this was his decision. She nodded, understanding him.
‘It’s okay Jimin,’ she said as she approached Eric. ‘You like using people, manipulating them and killing them. Well, I’ll tell you in on a little secret,’ she said as she went behind him. She pushed him to his knee and yanked his hair.
‘Ahhh,’ he cried out as he tried to reach for her hand. She put her sword against his throat, making him stop moving.
‘You see,’ she began, her voice almost growing colder. ‘I am a Scarlet, known as Domina Umbra,’ she said. I saw Eric’s face completely drain from colour.
‘You’re a Scarlet?’ he asked and she nodded. ‘Please… I never meant to hurt Minji. I’m sorry,’ he said but she chuckled, almost sinisterly.
‘Oh is that so? Well, newsflash! You still did and you killed that innocent child as well as hurt my little brother,’ she said.
‘Please I am begging you,’ Eric pleaded. I stared at Hanuel who looked so different right now. She looked nothing like the person I had grown to know over these past months.
‘Do you know Scarlets weren’t always hired assassins?’ Hanuel asked but Eric remained quiet. ‘No, they used to be protectors. In fact, sometimes, they were referred to as Custodes de Innocentes. Do you know what that means?’ she asked.
‘N…no,’ he stuttered while she lowered down.
‘It means, guardians of the innocents and you hurt three innocent souls. You can die knowing you killed your own child,’ she said as she suddenly moved her sword.
I saw the red streak appear on his neck as he began to gurgle. He fell to the floor, blood seeping out as he struggled to breathe. I stood frozen as I saw him bleed out until he finally stopped moving.
Hanuel turned around slowly to face us. I gasped as I saw her eyes almost teary. ‘I’m sorry,’ she said in a soft voice.
‘Hey, hey,’ I said as I hurried to hug her. I pulled her into my embrace as I wrapped my arms tightly around her. ‘Why are you apologizing?’ I whispered as I rubbed her back.
‘I… I never wanted you to see this monstrous side of me,’ she said. I shook my head as I pulled away from the hug and cupped her face in my hands.
‘You’re not a monster Hanuel. This * hurt Minji, hurt Yeonjun and killed the child in Minji’s womb. He was going to kill your little brother and you wanted to protect him. This is our world, it is who we have to be, but you’re not a monster,’ I said as I kissed her forehead.
‘Guys,’ I heard Taehyung yell out. We turned to see Yoongi and Taehyung both with Yeonjun. ‘He passed out. We need to get him either to the house or the hospital,’ he explained.
‘He’s been beat up and shot twice – one to the thigh, the other to the stomach,’ Yoongi further explained.
‘Hospital. I don’t want to risk his health,’ Namjoon said. I saw Hanuel wipe her face as she nodded.
‘Thanks Joon,’ she said as she approached her brother and took his hands in hers. ‘Please be okay,’ she whispered as she took his hand up to her mouth and kissed it.
